In the continued effort to boost Cambodia’s tourism sector and improve livelihood, the Ministry of Tourism and related partners agreed to establish the Tonle Sap Ecotourism Network.

During the closing of the workshop on the establishment of the Tonle Sap Ecotourism Network, Tourism Minister Thong Khon announced the set up of five additional work directions for the Secretariat, the National Committee and relevant partners to prepare for the work ahead to promote the establishment of the Tonle Sap Ecotourism Network.

The work direction include:

Support for the establishment of the network which will become an institutional mechanism under the National Committee for Management and Development of Community Tourism and Ecotourism.

The Secretariat of the National Committee will cooperate with relevant partners to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the official signing of the TEN (Tonle Sap Ecotourism Network) on the occasion of the 3rd National Ecotourism Forum on 21-22 November 2023.

The Secretariat of the National Committee must clearly organize the working mechanism of this network to ensure efficiency and sustainability, in particular, to develop a comprehensive work plan and a clear implementation mechanism, etc.

The Minister stated that the establishment of the network will be an effective institutional mechanism to mobilize all stakeholders from public institutions, national and international partners and private sector partners to share information.
