Angkor Thanksgiving event runs from December 14-16
The ICC-Angkor will hold their 36th technical session and their 29th plenary session from December 15-16 in Siem Reap province. The meetings are being held during the “Angkor Thanksgiving” event from December 14-16.
The ICC-Angkor is an international coordinating mechanism for assistance provided by different countries and organisations for the safeguarding and development of the historic site of Angkor Wat. The meetings are organized twice a year.
According to the Apsara National Authority (ANA), the event will be presided over by Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona who is also on the board of directors of the ANA, on behalf of the Cambodian government with the ambassadors from France and Japan serving as co-chairs of ICC-Angkor.
The ANA said that the meeting will look at the implementation of input received in the previous meetings, the progress of temple restoration, sustainable development at Angkor Archaeological Park, and report on conservation and archaeological research.
ANA spokesman Long Kosal said that authorities have organized an “Angkor Thanksgiving” event for three days from December 14-16. The event will see exhibitions, art performances and a religious ceremony.
The event will be held in front of Angkor Wat Temple, with the participation of Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, Sackona and other senior government officials.
Angkor Thanksgiving has been organized to show the achievements of the past 30 years made by the ANA and relevant authorities. All performances are free for the public to attend.
